Enchanted is a 2007 American fantasy romantic comedy film that combines elements of live-action and animation. The story follows Princess Giselle (Amy Adams), who lives in the magical kingdom of Andalasia, where everything is bright, colorful, and harmonious. She is engaged to Prince Edward (James Marsden), but their happiness is short-lived as Queen Narissa (Idina Menzel) becomes jealous of their impending union. In a fit of rage, Narissa transforms into a demonic hag and pushes Giselle down a magical well, banishing her from Andalasia. As Giselle falls through the dimensions, she finds herself in the unlikeliest of places: modern-day Manhattan. The shock of this new environment is palpable as she stumbles out of the sewer and into the busy streets of New York City. Giselle's arrival in the real world is met with confusion and skepticism by Robert (Patrick Dempsey), a divorce lawyer who is initially oblivious to her magical nature. As Giselle tries to find her way back home, she becomes embroiled in Robert's life and the lives of those around her, including his daughter Morgan (Samantha Morton). As Giselle navigates this unfamiliar world, she begins to realize that Andalasia is not as perfect as it seemed. She also discovers that true love can exist outside of fairy tales and that sometimes, people need a little bit of magic in their lives. Meanwhile, Queen Narissa follows Giselle to the real world, determined to eliminate her competition for Prince Edward's affections. Throughout the film, Enchanted cleverly pokes fun at traditional fairy tale tropes while also paying homage to classic Disney and musical traditions. The movie features a blend of live-action and animation, with many scenes featuring animated characters interacting with human actors. The story is full of humor, wit, and heart, making it a delightful treat for audiences of all ages.
