The Kid is a 1921 American silent drama film directed by Charles Chaplin. The movie tells the story of a homeless tramp who finds and adopts a young boy, whom he names Jerry, after the child's mother abandons him as a newborn. As Jerry grows up, the tramp, whose name is not revealed in the film, takes on the responsibility of caring for the boy, teaching him how to survive on the streets.
