Here is the movie summary: In the dystopian future of Terminal Island, New York, 2020, the United States' overcrowded penal system has reached a catastrophic breaking point. The Weyland Corporation, a powerful and ruthless entity, has taken control of the prisons, viewing them as lucrative business opportunities rather than correctional facilities. As a result, the once-honorable institution has been transformed into a brutal and inhumane environment. In this bleak landscape, former NASCAR driver Jensen Ames (Jason Statham) finds himself in Terminal Island's maximum-security penitentiary after being wrongly accused of murdering his wife. With no memory of the fateful night, Ames is forced to navigate the treacherous world behind bars, where inmates are constantly fighting for survival. To make matters worse, Ames' cellmate, Pachenko (Max Ryan), a ruthless and cunning convict with a personal vendetta against him, reveals that he has been chosen as the next driver in the deadly "Death Race," a televised event created by Weyland Corporation's enigmatic CEO, Harker (Joan Allen). In this twisted game, prisoners are forced to participate in a brutal, high-stakes competition, where they must navigate an obstacle course of challenges and violence while being pursued by heavily armed and ruthless "enforcers" in souped-up, high-tech vehicles. The last man standing will receive his freedom, but at what cost? As Ames struggles to survive the nightmarish environment and uncover the truth about his wife's murder, he finds himself drawn into the sinister world of Death Race.
