In the late 1880s, William Munny, a former outlaw and gunfighter, has hung up his six-shooter and settled into a quiet life as a widower and hog farmer. His reason for doing so is twofold: he's lost his love, Claudia, to tuberculosis, and he wants to provide for their two young children, the Nellies. However, when the local saloon owner, Ned Logan, and young gunslinger, The Schofield Kid, arrive in town seeking Munny's expertise in tracking down the men who attacked and brutally murdered a group of prostitutes at the local brothel, Munny is forced to confront his past. As Munny reluctantly agrees to take on one final job, he's met with a mix of nostalgia and trepidation. His skills are rusty, and the world has changed since his outlaw days.
