The Interview is a 2014 American spy comedy film directed by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. The movie follows Dave Skylark (James Franco), the host of a popular celebrity tabloid show called "Skylark Tonight", and his producer Aaron Rapaport (Seth Rogen). When they land an interview with North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un (Ryūichi Sakamoto), who claims to be a huge fan of their show, they are recruited by the CIA to assassinate him. The agency believes that Skylark and Rapaport can get close to Kim Jong-un without arousing suspicion, allowing them to take care of the job. As Skylark and Rapaport travel to North Korea for the interview, they find themselves in a series of absurd and uncomfortable situations. Despite their initial reservations about the mission, they begin to bond with Kim Jong-un, who reveals his fascination with Western pop culture and his desire to be seen as a normal person. However, when Skylark and Rapaport learn that the CIA has no intention of carrying out its end of the bargain, they decide to take matters into their own hands. They hatch a plan to escape North Korea with Kim Jong-un's help, despite the danger and consequences that come with it. The Interview features a blend of humor, satire, and action, as well as commentary on celebrity culture, politics, and international relations.
