In the aftermath of his untimely demise, Sheriff Roy Pulsipher is sent to the afterlife, only to discover that he has been recruited by the Rest In Peace Department (R.I.P.D.) - a mysterious organization tasked with policing the spiritual realm and protecting the living from the undead. With the help of his new partner, Remy Leigh, a deceased 18th century gentleman, Roy learns that the world is on the brink of chaos as the spirits of the dead are rising from their graves to wreak havoc on the land of the living.
