Down Periscope is a 1996 American comedy film directed by David Kellogg and starring Kelsey Grammer, Rob Schneider, and Lauren Holly. The movie follows the story of Lieutenant Commander Tom Dodge (Kelsey Grammer), a maverick Navy officer who has always dreamed of commanding a nuclear submarine. Despite his unconventional approach to naval duty, Dodge is given one last chance to prove himself by taking command of the aging U.S.S. Stingray, a World War II-era submarine that's being decommissioned. The Stingray's crew consists of misfit sailors who are equally skeptical of their new commander and desperate for a chance to leave the ship.
