剧情
《霸王别姬》是一部以中国京剧文化为背景的悲剧电影，故事主要围绕着两位男演员段小楼（张丰毅 饰）和程蝶衣（张国荣 饰）的师兄弟情谊、艺术理想和个人命运展开。 段小楼和程蝶衣自小一起学习唱戏，两人一个演生角，一个饰旦角，配合默契，尤其是在演出《霸王别姬》时，二人更是如出一辙。在他们的师父去世后，两人的关系更为密切，约定了一辈子都要演《霸王别姬》。然而，随着年龄的增长，两人对戏剧与人生的理解开始产生了分歧。段小楼逐渐接受了传统的社会价值观，认为戏剧只是幌子，而人生的正事是成家立业，而程蝶衣则认为戏剧与人生是相通的，他的生命就是为了演戏而存在。 在段小楼决定成家立业时，迎娶了名妓菊仙（巩俐 饰），这让程蝶衣深感被出卖和背叛。程蝶衣认定菊仙是可耻的第三者，破坏了他与段小楼之间的师兄弟情谊和艺术理想。此后，三个人围绕着《霸王别姬》的表演展开了一系列的爱恨情仇。随着时代的变迁，中国社会经历了抗日战争、国民党统治和共产党革命等巨变，三人的命运也被深深地影响着。 最终，程蝶衣因为段小楼的背叛和自己的艺术理想而渐渐疯癫，并最终在1949年的一场《霸王别姬》表演中付出了生命。段小楼和菊仙最后也没能找到真正的幸福。电影结束时，段小楼独自一人坐在废墟中，手里拿着那幅象征戏旦生角的折扇，满怀着悲痛和悔恨，终于明白了戏剧与人生是完全不同的，但也已经晚了。 整部电影通过对《霸王别姬》的表演和三个艺术家的命运的描绘，深刻揭示了中国传统文化和戏剧艺术的历史遗产，以及个人梦想与现实之间的冲突和悲剧。
