As Jason Kelly is just days away from tying the knot with his fiancée Lauren, he finds himself stuck in a monotonous and stifling life at the law firm where she works. His future seems predetermined, with the promise of a partnership hanging precariously over his head. However, when he's duped into driving to Florida for his grandfather's funeral by none other than his eccentric and free-spirited grandpa Dick, Jason's carefully constructed world begins to unravel. Dick, played by the inimitable Robert De Niro, is a force to be reckoned with. A retired lawyer turned party animal, he's hell-bent on getting one last wild adventure under his belt before meeting his maker. With Jason reluctantly at his side, they embark on a series of misadventures that take them from the sun-kissed beaches of Florida to the neon-lit streets of New Orleans. As Jason is forced to confront the more carefree and spontaneous aspects of his personality, he begins to realize that life doesn't always have to be about playing it safe. With Dick's unorthodox guidance, Jason finds himself drawn into a world of reckless abandon, as they indulge in one outrageous escapade after another. But as the stakes become higher and the consequences more dire, Jason is faced with an impossible choice: will he choose the safety of his predetermined future or take a chance on the thrill and uncertainty of living life on his own terms? With Dirty Grandpa, writer/director Dan Mazer has crafted a laugh-out-loud comedy that's equal parts raunchy humor and heartwarming drama.
