In the heart of Manhattan's Upper East Side, a group of working-class individuals, led by Charlie McMillan (Eddie Murphy), find themselves in a precarious situation when they discover that their boss, Arthur Shaw (Alan Alda), has been embezzling funds from the condo's pension fund. As it turns out, Shaw is a Wall Street swindler who has defrauded his investors of millions. With only days to go before Shaw is set to be released on bail and whisked away to a life of luxury in a country club prison, Charlie and his team decide to take matters into their own hands. They concoct a plan to steal back the money that was stolen from them, with the help of a group of professional thieves.
