Starman is a 1984 American science fiction film directed by Dan O'Bannon and starring Jeff Bridges and Karen Allen. The story begins when an alien spaceship crash-lands in a cornfield in rural Wisconsin, releasing an extraterrestrial entity that assumes the form of a young man named Scott Hayden (Jeff Bridges). Scott's wife, Jenny Hayden (Karen Allen), is shocked to discover that her husband has come back to life after being killed in a car accident just days earlier. The alien, who refers to himself as Starman, explains to Jenny that he needs her help to reach the desert of Arizona and contact his spaceship, which is still operational. He promises to return Jenny's husband Scott to her once they have completed their journey. As they embark on their cross-country trip, Jenny finds herself growing attached to the charismatic and endearing alien, who has taken on the persona of her deceased husband. A government agent named Kellogg (Charles Martin Smith) becomes aware of Starman's presence and sets out to capture him, believing that he poses a threat to national security. As Jenny and Starman navigate their way through the country, they must evade the authorities and confront the moral implications of their situation.
