The Longest Ride is a 2015 American romantic drama film directed by George Tillman Jr., based on the novel of the same name by Nicholas Sparks. The movie tells the story of two young lovers, Luke Collins (Scott Eastwood) and Sophia Petrie (Britt Robertson), who find themselves entwined with an older man, Ira Levinson (Jackie Earle Haley), as he reflects back on a lost love while trapped in an automobile crash. The film begins with Luke, a rugged bull rider from North Carolina, who meets Sophia, a college student and art major, at a rodeo. Despite their differences, they fall deeply in love and embark on a romantic getaway to the Outer Banks. However, their happiness is short-lived as tragedy strikes when Ira's car crashes, leaving him trapped and clinging to life.
