In Marvel's 2012 blockbuster, "The Avengers," Nick Fury, director of S.H.I.E.L.D. (Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division), is faced with an unprecedented threat to global safety and security. Loki, the adopted brother and arch-nemesis of Thor, God of Thunder, has escaped from Asgard and arrived on Earth, seeking revenge against his adopted father Odin for not recognizing him as the rightful ruler of Asgard. Loki's plan involves stealing the powerful Tesseract, a mysterious energy source that could be used to conquer the world. Along the way, they discover that Loki is not working alone, but has formed an alliance with Chitauri, an alien army bent on conquest. Throughout the film, director Joss Whedon weaves a complex narrative filled with action-packed battles, witty dialogue, and memorable characters. The Avengers must confront their own personal demons and learn to trust one another in order to save the world from Loki's evil plans. In the end, it is up to the team to come together and stop Loki before he can unleash his ultimate plan: destruction of the Earth.
