As the darkness shrouds the streets of Rome, a sense of unease settles over the Thorn family. For it is here, in this city steeped in history and mystery, that Robert Thorn, a rising diplomat, is confronted with an otherworldly presence. The adoption of Damien, a mysterious child born without an earthly father, sets off a chain reaction of terrifying events that would change the course of their lives forever. Initially, Damien appears to be a normal, if not peculiar, infant. However, as he grows, his actions become increasingly sinister and inexplicable. Robert's wife, Katherine, is oblivious to the malevolent forces at work, but Robert begins to sense that something is amiss.
