As the spaceship Aurora is prepared for departure from Earth, tensions run high among its six-member crew: the stalwart and resourceful Commander John Robinson; his wife, Maureen, a brilliant scientist; their three children, Judy, Penny, and Will; and Dr. Zachary Smith, a suspicious and self-serving government agent. The prospects for continuing life on Earth in 2058 are grim, with an impending environmental disaster threatening to wipe out humanity. In a last-ditch effort to preserve the species, the Robinsons are launched into space to colonize Alpha Prime, the only other inhabitable planet in the galaxy. But when a stowaway Dr. Smith secretly sabotages the ship's navigation system, the Robinsons' journey takes an unexpected turn. The ship veers off course and becomes lost in space, with no clear path back to Earth or their intended destination. As supplies dwindle and tensions rise, the family must work together to survive against all odds. As the crew struggles to repair the damage and find a new route, they encounter a series of challenges that test their resourcefulness, ingenuity, and resolve.
