The Four Feathers is a 2002 historical drama film directed by Shekhar Kapur, based on the 1902 novel of the same name by A.E.W. Mason. The story follows British Army Officer Harry Faversham (Heath Ledger), who resigns his commission in disgust when he learns that his regiment is being sent to the Sudan to fight against the Mahdi's uprising. Despite his friends' and fiancée's (Kate Hudson) disapproval, Harry decides to leave the army, feeling that the war is a futile effort. His former comrades, Tommy Blackbourne (Chris Elliot), Tipton Ford (Duncan Fraser), and Jimmy Denton (James Cosmo), are shocked by his decision and send him four white feathers as a symbol of cowardice. As Harry navigates his new life outside the army, he faces numerous challenges and struggles to maintain his sense of honor and integrity.
