Plot
As the world champion junior middleweight boxer, Billy "The Great" Hope has it all - a glittering career, a loving family, and a life of luxury. He's the toast of the town, with his impressive record and charismatic personality making him a fan favorite. But beneath the surface, Billy is struggling to find fulfillment outside of the ring. His wife, Maureen, and daughter, Leila, are the lights of his life, but even their love can't fill the void he feels. When tragedy strikes in the form of a devastating accident that leaves Billy's family torn apart, his world begins to unravel. The loss is compounded by his own guilt and sense of responsibility, leaving him feeling lost and powerless. His career begins to suffer as well, with his lack of focus and motivation causing him to lose his edge in the ring. In an attempt to regain control of his life and find a new sense of purpose, Billy turns to a troubled young girl named Tick, who becomes his protégée. Tick is a scrappy kid from the wrong side of the tracks, with a passion for boxing that rivals Billy's own. As Billy trains Tick in the art of boxing, he finds himself drawn into her world and forced to confront his own demons. As Billy navigates the dark depths of his own psyche, he must also contend with the harsh realities of the boxing world. He faces off against formidable opponents, including the ruthless and cunning Miguel "Vargas" León, who will stop at nothing to take down Billy and claim the championship title for himself. In the end, Billy must confront the true meaning of being a champion - not just in the ring, but as a father, husband, and human being. With his career on the line and his personal life hanging by a thread, Billy "The Great" Hope must find a way to overcome his grief and rediscover his passion for the sport he loves. Will he be able to rise from the ashes and regain his status as one of the greatest boxers of all time? Or will the tragedy that has befallen him consume him completely, leaving him nothing but a shadow of his former self?

Not sure if I should be more impressed by the boxing sequences or the fact that this is somehow a Jake Gyllenhaal vehicle... either way, it's a wild ride.
