I Am Number Four is a 2011 science fiction film directed by D.J. Caruso. The movie follows the story of John Smith (Alex Pettyfer), an alien from the planet Lorien who has been living on Earth as a human teenager. Known as "Number Four", he is one of nine Garde, powerful beings with extraordinary abilities, sent to Earth to escape the destruction of their home planet. When Number Four's home is discovered by the evil Mogadorians, a ruthless alien force that seeks to destroy all evidence of Lorien and its inhabitants, he must flee for his life. Accompanied by a classmate named Sarah (Dianna Agron) and her younger brother Sam (Jake Abel), who has supernatural abilities himself, Number Four attempts to evade capture while trying to understand his true identity and the purpose of his presence on Earth.
