The Hills Have Eyes (2006) is a remake of Wes Craven's 1977 horror film of the same name. Directed by Alexandre Aja, this suspenseful tale follows the Carter family as they embark on a road trip through the American Southwest. The journey takes a dark turn when their car breaks down in a government-designated atomic zone, which has been abandoned since the infamous nuclear test that took place in the area. The Carters, consisting of Bob (Ted Levine), his wife Ethel (Kathy Chamberlain), and their three children - Beverly (Emily Perkins), Brenda (Daniella Amavia), and Bobby (Nathan Baesel) - are forced to take refuge in an abandoned gas station. Beverly and Brenda find themselves at odds with each other, their sibling rivalry intensified by the horrific circumstances. Meanwhile, Bobby, who has been injured during an attack, becomes separated from the group, leaving his parents desperate to find him. As the body count rises and the survivors are pushed to the brink of exhaustion and despair, they must confront the true horror that lurks in the hills: the mutants themselves. The film's climax is a graphic and unrelenting display of violence, as the remaining Carters fight for their lives against an army of mutated monsters.
