Alive is a 1993 American biographical survival drama film directed by Frank Marshall. The movie is based on the true story of the Uruguayan Air Force Flight 571, which crashed in the Andes Mountains on October 13, 1972. The film follows a team of 45-year-old rugby players and their friends who embark on a flight from Uruguay to Chile to participate in a match. The plane, a Fairchild FH-227D, takes off with 45 people on board, including two Americans, one German, and the rest being Uruguayan nationals. However, due to a combination of human error and bad weather, the pilot becomes disoriented and crashes the plane into the Andes Mountains at an altitude of approximately 11,700 feet. The survivors are left stranded with limited supplies, including no food or water, and must rely on their skills and resourcefulness to survive. The group is initially optimistic about being rescued within a few days, but as time passes, they realize that rescue efforts have been hindered by the remote location and harsh weather conditions.
