Set against the decadent backdrop of Cambridge University's Camden College, The Rules of Attraction is a darkly comedic tale that explores the twisted dynamics of an elite group of students. The story revolves around three main characters: Sean Bateman (James Van Der Beek), a charismatic and manipulative drug dealer; Paul Allen (Justin Long), a nerdy and naive virgin; and Lauren Hynde (Shannon Sossamon), a sultry and enigmatic bisexual beauty.
