As the sun sets over the small town of Ravens Fair, Colorado, a group of friends are preparing for the most anticipated night of the year - Independence Day. The gang, consisting of Julie, Barry, Sean, Enid, and Zeke, have been planning a prank to play on their friend Ben Willis, who has just returned from summer camp. According to local legend, if you don't tell the truth about what happened on July 4th, Ben's ghost will come after you. The friends concoct a plan to lock Ben in an abandoned house and leave him to spend the night alone. However, things take a dark turn when Julie accidentally kills Ben during the prank gone wrong. Panicked and terrified of being found out, the group agrees to keep the incident a secret, burying Ben's body in a hidden location.
