Like Stars on Earth, also known as Taare Zameen Par in Hindi, tells the story of Ishaan Awasthi, an eight-year-old boy who sees the world in a unique way. To him, life is filled with wonders that others seem to overlook - colors, fish, dogs, and kites are just a few examples of the magic he finds everywhere. However, despite his vivid imagination and creative spirit, Ishaan struggles to fit in at school and at home. His parents, who run a struggling business, are too caught up in their own problems to notice their son's distress. His teachers are equally unresponsive, viewing him as simply another misbehaving student. As the story unfolds, we see Ishaan's world slowly falling apart. He is forced to repeat his third grade due to poor academic performance, and his parents' relationship begins to fray under the pressure of financial stress. Ishaan becomes increasingly isolated, feeling like he doesn't belong anywhere. Enter Ram Shankar Nikumbh, a new art teacher at Ishaan's school who sees something in the young boy that no one else does - potential. Nikumbh, played by Aamir Khan, is a passionate and unconventional educator who recognizes that Ishaan's "disabilities" are actually gifts. He sets out to help Ishaan discover his unique strengths and talents, and through their journey together, Ishaan begins to find his place in the world.
