As the holiday season approaches, Alvin, Simon, and Theodore are thrilled to be heading out on a road trip with their human father, Dave. However, their excitement quickly turns to panic when they misinterpret a series of events and become convinced that Dave is planning to propose to his new girlfriend, Jeanette, in New York City - and abandon them forever. Determined to prevent what they believe is an impending disaster, the chipmunks embark on a wild adventure across America, racing against time to reach New York before Dave can pop the question.
