In Derry, Maine, a group of young outcasts, the Losers Club, find solace in each other's company as they navigate the challenges of childhood. The group consists of Bill Denbrough, who is still reeling from the loss of his younger brother Georgie; Beverly Marsh, a shy and lonely girl with a troubled home life; Ben Hanscom, an overweight and awkward boy struggling to fit in; Richie Tozier, a wise-cracking jokester; Mike Hanlon, a quiet and reserved boy who is the only black member of the group; Stan Uris, a logical and skeptical thinker; and Eddie Kaspbrak, a hypochondriac with a controlling mother. As they explore their town, they begin to experience strange and terrifying events. They soon discover that these occurrences are all connected to an ancient evil entity that takes the form of a clown, known as Pennywise. The group learns that every 27 years, Pennywise awakens from its slumber to feast on the fear of Derry's children. As they delve deeper into the mystery of Pennywise, the Losers Club faces their own personal demons and insecurities. They must also confront the dark secrets and traumas that each member has kept hidden for so long. With the help of a wise old man named Maturin, who possesses knowledge about the true nature of Pennywise, the group begins to understand the origins of the monster and its connection to their town's troubled history. As the summer draws to a close, the Losers Club decides to face their fears head-on and confront Pennywise in an epic showdown. With their combined strength, they manage to defeat the monster and send it back into hibernation. However, as the years pass, they realize that the trauma of their encounter with Pennywise has left deep scars, and they must come together once again to face the evil entity's return.
