In the not-too-distant future, humanity has ravaged the planet in an all-out war against an alien threat known as the Scavs. To maintain control over what's left of Earth, a totalitarian government has established a series of floating islands and a fleet of repair drones to extract vital resources from the planet's surface. Jack Harper (Tom Cruise) is one such drone repairman, stationed on a remote outpost called Tet, where he spends his days fixing damaged drones and collecting data to send back to command.
