In feudal China, Ning Tsai-Shen, a timid and humble tax collector, arrives in a small town to carry out his duty of collecting taxes. However, his mission is not warmly welcomed by the locals, who are unwilling to provide him with shelter for the night. With no other options, Ning Tsai-Shen is forced to take refuge in the notorious Lan Ro temple, a haunted place where many fear to tread. Upon entering the temple, Ning Tsai-Shen encounters a Taoist Swordsman named Yen Che-Hsia, who is renowned for his bravery and martial arts skills. Unbeknownst to Ning Tsai-Shen, Yen Che-Hsia has been stationed at the temple to subdue the evil spirits that reside within its walls. As fate would have it, their encounter marks the beginning of an extraordinary adventure. As Ning Tsai-Shen spends more time in the temple, he also meets the enchanting Nieh Hsiao-Tsing, a beautiful and mysterious woman with an air of elegance and poise. Despite the eerie atmosphere of the temple, Ning Tsai-Shen finds himself drawn to Nieh Hsiao-Tsing's captivating charm, and before long, the two fall deeply in love. However, their blossoming romance is soon disrupted by the revelation that Nieh Hsiao-Tsing is, in fact, a ghost. Trapped between the world of the living and the afterlife, Nieh Hsiao-Tsing is cursed to roam the earth as a spirit, searching for a way to free herself from her eternal torment. Determined to help his beloved, Ning Tsai-Shen joins forces with Yen Che-Hsia to unravel the mysteries of Nieh Hsiao-Tsing's past and break the curse that binds her. As they embark on their perilous quest, Ning Tsai-Shen, Yen Che-Hsia, and Nieh Hsiao-Tsing must navigate the treacherous realms of the supernatural, confronting malevolent spirits and battling formidable foes along the way. Will their combined strength, courage, and determination be enough to free Nieh Hsiao-Tsing from her ghostly prison, or will the forces of darkness prove too powerful to overcome?
