Marion Crane's decision to steal a large sum of money from her employer sets off a chain reaction of events that ultimately lead her to the Bates Motel. As Marion flees Phoenix with the stolen cash, she hopes to escape her troubles and start anew. However, her plans are quickly foiled when she stops at the isolated motel run by Norman Bates and his mother.
