In "Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa," the sequel to the hit animated film, Alex the lion, Marty the zebra, and their friends find themselves on an unexpected adventure when they escape from the island of Madagascar. The penguins, led by Skipper, Kowalski, Rico, and Private, have managed to reassemble a wrecked airplane, which they use to make a daring getaway. The plane, piloted by the penguin quartet, miraculously stays aloft long enough to reach the African savannah, where the animals find themselves in a strange new land. Alex, feeling responsible for his friends' safety, takes charge and tries to navigate their situation. However, things quickly become complicated as they encounter a group of warthogs, who are initially hostile towards the zoo animals. As the gang tries to make sense of their new surroundings, they meet some old friends and make some new ones. They also discover that Alex's long-lost father, Zuba, is the king of the African lions, and he is thrilled to see his son after all these years. However, Alex struggles with the idea of taking over as the next king, especially since he has grown accustomed to life in New York City. Meanwhile, Gloria the hippopotamus and Melman the giraffe, who are both smitten with each other, try to find a way to be together despite their differences. Meanwhile, the penguins have their own adventure, trying to repair their plane and get back to their home in the zoo. Throughout their journey, Alex and his friends learn valuable lessons about identity, community, and following one's heart.
