Nacho Libre follows the story of Ignacio "Nacho" Herrera (Jack Black), a cook at a monastery in Mexico, who has a secret passion for professional wrestling. Nacho is desperate to raise money for the orphanage where he works and decides to become a luchador under the mask of El Especialista. With the help of his friend and fellow monk, Father Rafael (Héctor Jiménez), Nacho trains in the art of lucha libre and begins to compete in local matches. However, things get complicated when Nacho falls for Sister Encarnación (Ana de la Reguera), a nun who works at the orphanage. As Nacho's wrestling career takes off, he finds himself torn between his duty to the orphanage and his newfound fame. Meanwhile, the evil and corrupt Ursula (Rommy Herrera) tries to sabotage Nacho's success, fearing that his popularity will overshadow her own ambitions. Throughout the film, Nacho faces various challenges, including rival wrestlers, corrupt promoters, and personal struggles.
