Elite Squad tells the story of Captain André Matheus "Fernando" Nascimento, a seasoned and ruthless police officer who leads the notorious BOPE (Batalhão de Operações Policiais Especiais) unit. In 1997, just before Pope John Paul II's visit to Rio de Janeiro, Nascimento is tasked with cleaning up the city's streets of drug traffickers in preparation for the high-profile event.
