In this modern retelling of the beloved fairy tale, "A Cinderella Story: If the Shoe Fits" brings a fresh twist to the classic story. The film follows Sam Montgomery (Hilary Duff), a kind and talented high school student who is treated unfairly by her stepmother, Fiona (Madeline Zima), and stepsisters, Brianna (Andrea Lewis) and Gabriella (Maria Canals-Barrera). Sam's mother passed away when she was young, and her father married Fiona, who has two daughters of her own. Despite Sam's efforts to be a good daughter and sister, she is constantly belittled and overworked by her stepfamily. When the opportunity arises for Sam to participate in a music competition for a famous pop star, Samantha decides to take a chance and enter the contest under an assumed identity, "Amy Spencer." With the help of her best friend and confidant, Carter (Daniel Radcliffe), she begins to make a name for herself in the competitive world of music. As Amy's popularity grows, Sam finds herself torn between her two identities. She must navigate the challenges of fame while keeping her true identity hidden from her stepfamily and the world. Meanwhile, Sam's relationships with Carter and another young musician, Jordan (Chad Michael Murray), become increasingly complicated as she struggles to balance her double life. Throughout the film, Sam faces numerous obstacles and setbacks, including sabotage by her stepsisters and a rivalry with a spoiled pop star, Madison Taylor (Julie Gonzalo).
