Phil Connors, a cynical and self-centered television weatherman, embarks on an assignment to cover the annual Groundhog Day event in Punxsutawawn, Pennsylvania. Accompanied by his producer Rita Hanson and cameraman Larry Palmer, Phil is initially unimpressed with the quaint town's charm.
