As the sun rises over the nation's capital, Capitol Policeman John Cale (Channing Tatum) is struggling to come to terms with being rejected from his dream job with the Secret Service. Despite his disappointment, John decides to take his 10-year-old daughter Emily (Joey King) on a tour of the White House, hoping to put on a good face for her sake. However, their day takes an unexpected turn when a group of heavily armed mercenaries, led by Stenz (Jason Clarke), launches a surprise attack on the White House. The invaders, who are seeking to take control of the President and hold him hostage, quickly overwhelm the Secret Service agents on duty. As chaos erupts throughout the building, John finds himself facing off against Stenz and his men.
