As the last remnants of sunlight fade from the desolate landscape, humanity teeters on the brink of extinction. Fifty years have passed since the initial attempt to reignite the dying star, and the consequences of failure are dire. The once blue skies have given way to an eternal darkness, plunging the planet into a deep freeze. It's 2057, seven years after the catastrophic mission went awry. A new team, led by astronaut Robert Capa (Cillian Murphy), is assembled to correct the mistakes of the past. Joining him on the perilous journey are two other astronauts, Corazon Carya (Michelle Yeoh) and Harvey Perkins (Chris Evans). The crew of the Icarus spaceship embarks on a treacherous 93-million-mile journey to the Sun, carrying a state-of-the-art device capable of reigniting the star.
