As the fog rolls in off the Pacific Ocean, the sleepy coastal town of Antonio Bay prepares to celebrate its 100th anniversary with a grand festival. But as the townspeople gather to commemorate this milestone, a series of bizarre and terrifying events begins to unfold. At first, it seems like nothing more than a prank gone wrong when various objects around town start to move on their own - a rocking chair creaks back and forth, a lamp flickers to life, and a newspaper page turns itself. But as the strange occurrences escalate, the people of Antonio Bay realize that something much more sinister is at work. Reverend Malone, a well-meaning but slightly eccentric local minister, stumbles upon an ancient tape recorder in the town's archive room that reveals a dark secret about the town's past. It seems that 100 years ago, a group of fishermen - including the descendants of the original settlers - were slaughtered by a group of corrupt and ruthless loggers. The ghostly spirits of these murdered men, still seeking justice and retribution, begin to rise from the depths of the fog-shrouded sea. As the townspeople are stalked and terrorized by the vengeful spirits, they realize that they have been unwittingly harboring a centuries-old curse. As the body count rises and the town teeters on the brink of chaos, Rev. Malone must find a way to appease the malevolent forces and put an end to the evil that has been awakened. But as the night wears on and the fog grows thicker, it becomes clear that the only way to lift the curse is for the townspeople to confront their dark past and make amends. In this classic horror film from John Carpenter, The Fog is a masterclass in atmospheric tension and suspense, with a chilling score and some truly terrifying set pieces.
