Changeling

Plot

In the midst of the 1920s Los Angeles, Christine Collins' (Angelina Jolie) life takes a devastating turn when her eight-year-old son Walter is kidnapped. The community comes together in search of the young boy, and after several weeks of tireless efforts, Walter's body is discovered near an abandoned house. Overwhelmed with grief, Christine is told by authorities that the remains are indeed those of her son. However, Christine's sense of relief is short-lived as she begins to notice small discrepancies between the body and her son's appearance. As she continues to question the authorities, she becomes increasingly convinced that the boy who was found is not Walter. Her pleas for an investigation fall on deaf ears, and instead, the police captain, Edward J. Dunphy (Jeffrey Jones), accuses Christine of being a delusional mother. As Christine's determination to uncover the truth intensifies, her world begins to unravel. She faces ridicule, hostility, and even institutionalization at the hands of the authorities. Despite these challenges, she refuses to back down, convinced that there is more to this tragic event than meets the eye. Collaborating with a sympathetic journalist, Standy Foster (Clifton Collins Jr.), Christine's quest for justice becomes a fight against the corrupt and incompetent system. As she delves deeper into the truth, she encounters a web of deceit and cover-ups that threatens to destroy everything she holds dear. With Changeling, director Clint Eastwood masterfully weaves together a powerful tale of maternal love, perseverance, and the human spirit's capacity for resilience in the face of adversity. The film is an unflinching portrayal of the injustices faced by Christine Collins, a woman who refused to accept the unacceptable and fought tirelessly to bring her son home.
