Plot

In the movie Hancock, Will Smith plays John Hancock, a self-centered and reckless superhero who has lost touch with society due to the catastrophic consequences of his actions while saving lives. His methods are often destructive, causing massive property damage and chaos in the process. As a result, the public has grown weary of his antics, and his popularity begins to wane. To turn things around, Hancock's PR agent, Ray Embrey (Jason Bateman), is hired to revamp the superhero's image and make him more palatable to the public. Ray is a straight-laced, by-the-book kind of guy who wants to help Hancock see the error of his ways and become a hero that people can admire. As Hancock and Ray work together, they form an unlikely bond, with Hancock's rough-around-the-edges persona clashing with Ray's more refined sensibilities. Despite their differences, they begin to develop a begrudging respect for each other. However, things take a surprising turn when Hancock meets Mary (Charlize Theron), a beautiful and enigmatic woman who seems to be hiding secrets of her own. As Hancock becomes smitten with Mary, he begins to see the world in a different light and starts to question his destructive methods. Meanwhile, Ray discovers that Hancock's problems are not just a result of his own selfishness, but also stem from a deeper issue: he is actually an alien who has been living on Earth for centuries. This revelation forces Ray to re-evaluate his mission to reform Hancock and consider the true nature of the superhero's powers. As the story unfolds, Hancock must confront the consequences of his actions and decide whether to continue down the path of destruction or use his powers for good. With the help of Mary and Ray, he must learn to harness his abilities and become a hero that people can truly admire.
